How I work as your wedding emcee

Dear B2Bs,

Funny I just discovered what B2B means after blog hopping to wedding blogs one another. Haha.

How's wedding prep so far? When was the last time you had a checklist? It's crucial to have one checklist yall! Penting sebab nak kena make sure budget tak tersasar, all are in orders.. Byk lah! And, ehem emcee hunt pun should be on the list ye. Penting tu.. Haha.

I have been so busy with my work and studies, but later this week akan ade one wedding to emcee. Alhamdulillah. Today, I like to share with yall how I work as your wedding emcee.

Step 1
Bila dah confirm to hire an emcee (that's me), just a simple text will do. Such, "Okay, I like to hire you for our wedding on this date sekian sekian." This is penting so that I can slot in the dates and tak clash ngan mana-mana weddings kan.. The confirmation may be months earlier. Tp I rarely accept, if its a week confirmation sebab I like to engage my customers, personally.

Step 2
Selalunya two weeks before the wedding, I will meet the B2B to discuss on the flow. Mana yg ada, mana yg takde..Contohnya, ade pengantin yang tanak renjis merenjis. Ada yg sampai 2 sesi kek nak dipotong. Things like that. Masa ni gak kita bincang gaya penyampaian. Selalunya I memg dah gtau yg I akan start emceeing once the bride enters the room. So, kalau majlis tu start kul 11 tapi pengantin hanya masuk jam 1, first two hours tu, I takkan emcee. I would suggest for the brides to play songs je from the deejay side. This is penting becuz u can keep the excitement together with the tetamu yg hadir. :)

Step 3
A week before the wedding I akan hantar the text for the B2B to read and add up the few things jika ada.. So this is when I really need confirmations on the attendees yg akan merenjis ke, yg perlu diannounce ke.. Things like that. I like to run a smooth wedding. Alhamdulillah setakat ni, I get very much good responses from my customers. :)

Step 4
Usually I will not accept any advances from the bride. It has always been my style to only terima bayaran after the wedding. Becuz at the end of the day, I nak my customers happy dgn what I brought to the table. If my customers tak happy, I rather not terima bayaran tu, cuz I tanak org bukak mulut n kata I mengacara cincai ke ape. But Alhamdulillah setakat ni takde lah lagi yg tak puas hati ke apa. I pun tumpang happy. :)

So, that's all!

Questions!

Hi y'all!

Last few days I've been receiving a lot of e-mails from brides to be. Mostly tanya about my availability. Surprisingly, the requests mostly cm from those who's planning for next year (2013) wedding. So, I takde masalah sebenarnya if y'all check the sidebar sebelah, baru ada satu fixed wedding for me to emcee. There's one in January, tp I belum dengar lagi confirmation from her. I tahu pun from a friend to a friend. Alhamdulillah. I love weddings!

Okay, lagi satu request tanya rate I and its breakdown. Okay now, let me explain. My rate is actually considered low. In fact, the purpose of me started emceeing is because I really love weddings and my friend, Iwan inspired me to start emceeing. He is the one who shared his wedding scripts and all and I then started off early this year. He told me that usually a professional emcee would take about RM1000 and above (this is the one who hold a household name) and those rookie mcm I ni, kira nasib baik jela kalau orang nak hire and pay about RM200-RM500. So, I took a middle rate. Kang kalau letak murah sgt, org ingat I main2. Kalau RM500, I takut plak tak berpadanan sebab my task is merely half a day je. :)

As y'all might know, I am also working. I don't consider myself a workaholic but that's my life for now. Org kata jgn jadikan keje sebagai kehidupan, but this is my life for now. Nanti bila dah berkahwin, insy Allah, there's a new life la kan, for me. So, keje ni memang sebab ada planning berumah tangga. Kumpul duet dulu masa muda-muda ni.. Hehehe.

Plus, I pun skrg tgh study for my Master's degree in Corporate Communication. If I can have 48 hours in a day, it will be a blessing indeed! Hahaha. I tak kisah dengan masa ni sebab I know, I juga yg nak lebih maju n ke hadapan..

So mostly,

RM350 = My time spent

Last but not least, ada juga yg bertanyakan pasal video I masa emcee. I never had anyone recorded emceeing as far as I remember. And I pun bukan jenis suka nak amek video sendiri. To me, I bukan jenis yg camera-friendly. I like people to know me in real life and define myself. That's why I'm open to meet if you nak tgk I mcm mana orangnya. Maybe my voice ke tak sesuai and all. Lebih senang kan..

So tak kisahlah mcm mana. if y'all still interested of looking, you know where to find me!

Public Speaking Experience

I was 12 when I first started public speaking gigs.

Then again, it wasn't really a "public speaking". I was "tricked" by my teacher to join this debate. I wasn't prepared and probably the worst nitemare ever!

I bulk up during my sophomore years. I started to represent my school in "Syarahan Agama".. Yeah, so much for a preacher myself. I was good, really. I was damn good, I represented my school 4 times in a row! But once u started in that "line", it's hard to shed how the way you should do in Public Speaking.

Lucky for me, this one teacher taught me how to differentiate between delivering Public Speaking and giving Speech. Public Speaking is like a normal conversation thou there are some elements you need to address, here and there. Adlibs is highly recommended. The more spontaneous you are, the more lively the Public Speaking will be. My highest achievement would be when I was 16. I represented my school and competed among Chineses. U see, those groups were always the fave to represent schools in Public Speaking. So I was kinda like "pemecah tradisi".. Thou I was dubbed the first runner up, I was proud of myself of the Top 5 consisted of all Chinese, except me.

Now, I'm taking a Public Speaking course again for my Master's degree. Suddenly it feels like 9 years ago. Do I still have that charm in delivering Public Speaking?

We'll see!

Emcee for Talent Nite

Don't be surprise. That was me. Seriously. It was Talent Nite last year at my previous company. I was selected to be the emcee of the nite together with two more ladies. The theme was superhero and supervillain. Stuffs like that.. Of course as the emcee, I have to go for something radical and out of box. Instead of portraying a signature costume of certain characters, I decided to wear one of the outfits Joker sports thru the Dark Knight film. With a little twist, of course. I appeared way sexier. Haha. Don't blame on my physique. I was a bit slim last year. I gained 10 kgs, since. :)

It was a fun session. Eventhough I had some scripts but since it was meant as a fun nite, I decided to go slapstic on my jokes, particularly. As the emcee of the nite, I think I managed well. People kept talking about the nite itself. I hope I was memorable as my outfit was. :)

How I first started as a wedding emcee

Adam and Eve..

It was Adam and Abby's wedding when I first decided to emcee for the first time. I have to say that I'm pretty psyched when they booked me since the year before. Both Adam and Abby are good friends of mine. I love them both. The fact that they are very keen to have me as their wedding emcee, I was flattered. And they practically one of reasons why I then decided to start this new "gig".

And I started "big". The wedding was pretty much protocol wise as the TYT Melaka came as the VVIP. Being an experienced protocol-wise event myself, I'm cool with the idea he's coming. Alhamdulillah the wedding went super well. Both Adam and Abby looked super fine on their big day. And I'm glad I was part of their big day.

this is a start

this blog is solely dedicated to my passion; i love being the emcee. specifically, the wedding emcee. i've done numerous wedding emcees over months starting 2012. so yeah, i'm considered a rookie, if you asked me.. all my previous customers has been nothing but satisfied of what i brought to their table. contact me if you're looking for one. this blog is still new, i'll update my calendar and my rate from time-to-time.
